HHA - 'Dare to be Different' at Larchfield Estate

We were very flattered to be asked to talk at Loseley Park, Guildford to other members of the Historic Houses Association (HHA) across the UK who host weddings in their amazing establishments on the economics of food and drinks at weddings. Given that we do things slightly differently at Larchfield, by offering couples savings with no corkage and choice with selected local outsourced caterers the presentation was entitled ‘ Dare to Be Different’. We also felt this reflected the couples ability to make their day their own rather than having to follow a set format. Flexibility and astounding customer service are, we believe stand out factors for us.

We are delighted that couples who book with us can design the wedding of their dreams. It is a luxury to have choice in life, and Larchfield Estate strives to achieve just that. There are no packages available at Larchfield Estate as we believe that this allows couples to create a day to be unique to them.

We start with offering advice on select, trusted caterers who deliver the finest of cuisine, tailored to the couple’s taste buds – and budget, we know everyone has their own big-no-no’s and oh-definitely’s! We are open to new suppliers and as choice is the subject in question, and have worked with world cuisine through to local fayre, from high end dining to buffet BBQ style meals, we love the variety at Larchfield Estate. From working closely alongside our caterers, we can see that they put their all into our couples wedding days, and a little healthy competition between catering companies encourages better pricing for our clients. We enjoy regular meetings with our caterers as feedback for improvement does ensure that the entire team’s standards continue to the highest of standards.

Many wonder why food is often more expensive at a wedding venue than at a restaurant? The answer is simple – at a wedding multiple meals need to be served at the same time, so extra staff are required. We believe in local, freshly cooked produce rather than premade and heated meals.

Drinks wise whilst many venues charge restaurant prices on drinks, or a corkage fee we do neither. Our in house wine list is at trade prices, and we don’t charge corkage. We charge a venue fee up front and keep everything else to a minimum – ensuring that couples can budget and plan easily – with no nasty surprises or bills after the big day. Even our bar prices for wedding guests are extremely reasonable. Again it just gives a feel good factor to everyone visiting Larchfield.
