Your wedding menu should be as unforgettable as your vows, and here we share our guide to delighting your guests with a seasonally inspired feast. At Larchfield Estate, we believe in telling your love story through your food choices — from favourite canapés at arrival, to a fun evening buffet that reflects your personalities and Old Barn offer an extensive menu so that you can tell your love story through your food choices. Whether you’re planning a cosy winter ceremony or a bright summer garden celebration, our estate in Northern Ireland offers the perfect backdrop for a culinary journey that complements your day.

Winter Weddings

While the exclusive us Larchfield Estate offers an exquisite experience all year round, some of our favourite weddings were during the winter, with afternoon tea in the warmth of the orangery looking at the frosty or snowy scenes outside.

Our afternoon tea offers a chef’s selection of sandwiches and sweet treats that is perfectly rounded off with a hot tea or coffee to keep you warm or maybe a warm mulled wine provided by the fabulous bar team?

Fast forward to your meal, and what better way to start than a bowl of sweet potato and roasted red pepper soup served with an individual artisan bread roll?

As for the main course there is always the option to have a traditional turkey and ham dinner, a timeless classic that needs no introduction. Or for those looking to offer something a little different we offer sage and onion stuffed braised beef, served with baby carrots, and chasseur sauce; this is a relatively new addition to our menu that is already showing signs of being one of our standout dishes for years to come. The best way to finish any winter wedding has to be our warm chocolate brownie, served with rich chocolate sauce, and whipped cream.

Spring Weddings

With the lighter weather and fresh hues of spring, your menu can reflect the season’s gentle awakening and we often recommend aiming for a lighter menu, reflecting the brighter colours and warmer weather. A starter such as chicken tempura with spiced aioli and a soy-ginger & chilli dressing brings warmth, texture and flavour, yet in a lighter format. Your main one option stands out - our roast rump of lamb with pea and mint purée finished with a Madeira jus — elegant, seasonal and unforgettable. And to complete your spring wedding breakfast maybe a cold dessert; perhaps a delicious caramelised lemon tart with raspberry and mint reduction finished with whipped cream? Wonderfully light and vibrant — a bright, uplifting finish that matches the stunning walled garden setting at Larchfield.

Summer Weddings

Nothing says summertime like a drink’s reception in Larchfield Estate’s elegant, beautiful gardens - and what better way to match the exquisite scenery than refreshing canapes?

Two that spring instantly to mind are our watermelon, cured ham and feta skewers and our local strawberries dipped in chocolate.

Summer is the perfect time to opt for a cold starter and each year our duo of salmon- lemon and black pepper and kiln smoked, served with pickled cucumber, red onion, wasabi aioli, and roasted red pepper gel is always a trendy and delicious option.

We cannot forget evening food, as this will often be the last impression of your wedding menu. During the warm summer nights as your day draws to a close you could be enjoying a portion of our fully loaded nacho trays or even a chicken gyro skewer, served with skinny chips and garlic sauce - in the bar area of the main barn, the orangery or under the lean too in the cobbled courtyards with the log fires blazing to take away any evening chill. Memorable, fun and suited to a summer celebration.

Autumn Weddings

Autumn weddings are increasingly popular at Northern Ireland venues like Larchfield Estate— and with good reason. The changing colours, cosy textures and rich flavours all come together beautifully.

For your main course you might offer your guests a choice: Glenarm short rib of beef with salt-roasted beetroot and a red wine & baby onion jus; or oven-roast chicken stuffed with mozzarella and sun-blushed tomato, finished with a chorizo cream sauce. Both options provide you with a warm and cozy option that naturally blends with the changing of the seasons.

And for dessert? Nothing says autumn more than a hot apple and blackberry crumble tartlet, served with whipped cream and brown butter custard. This dessert is a wonderful up-scale reminder of a timeless home-cooked dessert and a great way to finish your autumn menu.

Warm, comforting, and perfect for a garden-to-barn transition as the evening draws in.
